The Audax Holster Aware is a brand-new solution that detects whether a handgun, non-lethal weapon, CED (Conducted Energy Device) or PAVA Spray has been removed from a holster worn by the body worn camera wearer.  This new feature is now available across Audax’s range of pioneering Body Worn Video (BWV) cameras.

Audax have been pioneers in body worn video (BWV) technology for the past few decades. Once again, with the release of the Audax Holster Aware the BWV experts are leading the field with ground-breaking features that will change the way in which security and emergency service workers are protected.

Designed to minimise the number of actions a camera wearer must take, Audax’s Holster Aware Sensor recognises the presence of a firearm (or a non-lethal weapon, CED or PAVA Spray) within a holster and will trigger recording to begin via Bluetooth wireless technology to an Audax Bluetooth-enabled camera if this item is removed or inserted.

Before this technology, these workers would need to press the recording button on their BWV camera in order to capture the event and securely store it, however, if the camera wearer is faced with a situation where they must draw their weapon, the pressing of a button will likely be impossible. However, without this vital recorded evidence, prosecuting criminals can be tricky. That’s why this innovative technology is so important.

With Audax Holster Aware, the officer or security personnel wearing the camera does not need to worry about pressing a button to begin recording, as the removal of the weapon from the holster will do this automatically. This simple action could potentially save crucial time and capture valuable evidence.

Using wireless Bluetooth technology, the sensor pairs and connects to the nearest Audax camera in a 10m range, providing instant recording initiation on the BWV camera. This level of connectivity also enables an audit report to be generated in Audax DEMS to log every instance a sidearm has been drawn from a holster.

Adam Liardet, Managing Director of Audax comment: “At Audax, we are always looking for new ways to enhance operational capability in the field. This innovative new feature was designed to prioritise the safety of the emergency services and security professionals, along with other BWV users.”

Audax – worldwide leaders in Body Worn Video technology – will continue to use their extensive experience and knowledge to develop and advance their products, and increase the safety of those who wear them.

As part of a green agenda, Audax is continuing to work with Be Exhibitions and Mossy Earth to regularly plant trees across Scotland and Ireland to offset their carbon footprint.

Audax recognises that they have a duty to protect our environment. As the world opened up post-pandemic in 2022, members of the team travelled to numerous events across the UK and Europe to showcase the company and its award-winning portfolio of body worn cameras. As in previous years, to offset the travel associated with these events, Be Exhibition and Mossy Earth planted trees on behalf of Audax as part of reforestation projects in Ireland and Scotland.

For example, to offset the carbon footprint of Audax’s exhibition stands in April and May, three trees were planted for a reforestation project in the Scottish Highlands. This project focuses on planting the right trees in the right places, ensuring that native species are planted in areas that are likely to become wild forests. These areas are also protected, so that they can lock up huge amounts of carbon and provide a safe habitat for wildlife, and can be enjoyed by generations to come. (Click here to learn more).

Audax Founder and Managing Director, Adam Liardet commented, “At Audax we believe that despite being a technology company we can actually have a positive impact on the planet, leaving it better than when we found it. We’re proud to be involved with a number of initiatives aimed at supporting people, places and the planet – from anti-agression campaigns that protect emergency workers to these projects with Be Exhibitions and Mossy Earth.”

Like Audax, the Mossy Earth team is passionate about the preservation of our natural world. They fight climate change by restoring nature on behalf of their members, with an incredibly important mission – to restore wild ecosystems, support wildlife and biodiversity, and help fight climate change.

Looking ahead to 2023, Audax will continue to support that mission as part of their efforts to actively reduce their carbon footprint and prioritise the environment.

Audax Global Solutions and CyberHive are pleased to announce a partnership that brings together two British pioneers of innovative security technology, creating the industries’ most advanced solution for securely capturing and storing body worn video evidence. The partnership combines Audax’s industry-leading, and UK manufactured body worn camera technology with CyberHive’s award-winning, cloud-based secure data hosting. Today we are proud to announce the availability of Audax Secure Cloud Hosting.

Since 2005, UK based Audax have worked in collaboration with the police, emergency services and security industry to provide solutions that meet “evidence secure” technology requirements.

Traditionally worn by civil enforcement officers, emergency services and local authority employees, body worn video (BWV) is becoming increasingly popular as evidence-gathering technology on the security frontline across the globe. This innovative technology is paving the way for both security and personal safety applications, with private companies now issuing BWV to frontline staff, protecting them in the case of abuse.

It is vital that video evidence captured via Audax’s body worn cameras is securely recorded, transmitted, and stored. To meet the most stringent legal requirements, it is also necessary to prove that the video data is unchanged or not tampered with or compromised in any way. Video footage from body worn cameras provide the impartial evidence that can independently verify events. Being able to exhibit a clear audit trail of data integrity is critically important, particularly when the video footage is required as evidence.

Audax Secure Cloud Hosting provides the ultimate assurance utilising CyberHive’s patented unauthorised activity detection technology, to manage and protect extremely sensitive information.

With over 20 years’ experience in networking and infrastructure solutions, CyberHive’s mission is to make data breaches a thing of the past.

Commenting on this partnership, Audax Owner and Managing Director, Adam Liardet, said:

We are delighted to be partnering with CyberHive and again improving our award-winning body worn video (BWV) offering to customers. The extremely novel approach that CyberHive take to data security sets them apart from others in this highly congested market space and is a natural fit for our partnership. This now allows us to provide our customers with the option of managing evidence captured from Audax’s BWV cameras, using the industry’s most secure cloud-based hosting solution in any geographical location.

What makes Audax Secure Cloud Hosting so compelling is how quickly and easily you can get up and running. This removes the need for highly skilled and scarce IT resources to implement a trusted, secure storage and operating environment, completely aligning with our “Secure plug and play” solution offering to the market.

CyberHive’s Jonathan Aniszewski, Partnership Manager said:

“At CyberHive, we realise that it is not a case of ‘if’ companies will be hacked, but ‘when’. We work closely with the UK Government, and public sector customers to give them peace of mind knowing that their IT framework is completely secure.

That is why we are delighted to be partnering with Audax to provide their customers with Audax Secure Cloud Hosting. Our technology will deliver a secure and scalable solution for video evidence management delivering both cost and time savings, while meeting regulatory compliance obligations”.

As a union that works to protect and improve the interests of paramedics working in Belgium, Ambulanciersunie are an important cause that Audax are pleased to lend their support to for the third consecutive year as The Headline Prime Sponsor.

Ambulanciersunie campaign for a better future for all their members including all 112 paramedics and ambulances and the non-emergency patient transport workers.

Ambulanciersunie work hard to deliver their four key goals, which include protecting the rights and interests of paramedics, encouraging the provision of more financial resources for the ambulance service, and to provide high-quality training and better working conditions.

In 2021, a survey found that 70% of paramedics feared for their safety while at work. With stats like this in mind, The Audax team believes that aggression towards ambulance members should be dealt with severely by the courts, and that Audax body worn camera video evidence aids in the provision of a “gold standard of evidence” to prove cases when this does unfortunately occur.

Primarily Body worn Video is used to increase the safety of frontline workers by deescalating confrontations and for the gathering of impartial, accurate evidence that can be used to educate, inform or prosecute. BWV also improves transparency in terms of relationships with the public, while also reducing offender complaints and speeding up the administration of justice.

Audax understands the severity of the issues that these workers face, and the pressure

they’re put under daily. That’s why Audax has been working closely with Ambulanciersunie since 2019, providing them with support and advice around the benefits and use of body cameras for private and organisational use in the French, Dutch and German speaking regions across Belgium. As we move into 2023, Audax will continue to be the Unions Headline Prime Sponsor and supporting their great work.

Manging Director of Audax, Adam Liardet stated, “Audax are delighted to be renewing our sponsorship with Ambulanciersunie, helping them to deliver and improve the working conditions of their members. Protecting those on the front line is something we’re incredibly passionate about and providing our support and subject matter knowledge to protect those in the Belgium ambulance service is so important to us. We’re honoured to be protecting those who work tirelessly to protect us.”

Gold Zero hours accreditation

Audax are thrilled to announce that they are now accredited by Zero Hours Justice as a No Zero Hours Gold Employer. Previously a standard member, the progression into a gold standard member is a real achievement to Audax, highlighting their commitment to supporting each and every person in the team.

During the cost of living crisis, having a reliable income is more important than ever before.  Zero hour contracts take away this security from the employee, denying them guaranteed hours and a guaranteed wage. On top of this, employers can cancel or move work shifts with minimal warning, leaving employers on the back foot.

At Audax, employees are highly valued. That’s why, as of 1st September 2022, they achieved this new gold standard accreditation. This accreditation highlights their commitment to fairer hours and working contracts by refusing to use zero hour contracts, guaranteeing their employees the hours they’re contracted to work. Plus benefits such as sickness, holiday, and other allowances.

To be eligible for the No Zero Hours Gold Employer Accreditation, Zero Hours Justice ask that companies:

  • Don’t and won’t employ anyone directly on a zero hours contract
  • Don’t and won’t employ anyone indirectly on a zero hours contract via any third party contractor or agency. This applies to third parties that provide workers (for example temporary staff, cleaners etc.)

Audax are proud to not employ anyone directly or indirectly on a zero hour contract. They do what they can in support of employment in the UK, including also adopting the Good Business Charter many years ago.

Speaking about this new accreditation, Audax Owner and Managing Director, Adam Liardet, said:

“We’re delighted to be gold standard members with Zero Hours Justice. Ensuring the health and happiness of our team is a top priority for us at Audax and something we work hard to achieve. Zero hour contacts can cause havoc on lives, and at a time where a consistent income is crucial to families across the country, we’re committed to never signing zero hour contacts.”

Applying for accreditation is easy and something Audax would highly recommend. Find out more here: https://www.zerohoursjustice.org/accreditation.html

As one of 156 organisations this year to have been recognised by the UK government for their outstanding support towards the armed forces community, Audax are proud to be among the few who have received the honour of the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award 2022.

Representing the highest badge of honour, the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award identifies businesses that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families. Until this year’s cohort, only 30 micro companies had ever achieved this accolade.

Speaking of the award, Owner and Managing Director, Adam Liardet commented: “I am thrilled we have received this honour and it means a great deal to Audax and to me personally. We at Audax pride ourselves on having a team composed of 50% service veterans, including myself. This is a cornerstone to our business culture and Audax are proud to support veterans and the armed forces community both within business and the wider community.”

Audax recognises the contribution that the members of the Armed Forces make to the nation through their service and has signed the Armed Forces Covenant to pledge Audax’s support of the Armed Forces Community. As part of the pledge, Audax supports: the employment of veterans; employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces (including the establishment of Reservist HR procedures); and local cadet units, either in local community or local schools, where possible.

For example, Mike Pitt, an Audax Company Director and Veteran Submariner, is a volunteer guide for HMS Courageous. The Courageous Volunteer Guides (CVGs), a group of former Royal Navy personnel, provide visitors with an in-depth tour of Courageous and the Submarine Service. As the name suggests, they are all volunteers and receive absolutely no payment for the work they do.

Audax believe we all have a role to play in ensuring that the Armed Forces community is not disadvantaged by service, and by employing veterans the company gains hugely from their direct experience of the operational environment, and their personal appreciation of customer needs and aspirations. When people leave the armed forces, they do so with unique skills and experiences that directly benefit business. Their potential contribution should never be underestimated and thus are Audax’s preferred first choice in any recruitment that Audax undertakes.

A large number of customers around the globe have also served in their respective countries armed forces so the Audax team share a “bond” with all. It is this “bond” of experience that provides an instant mutual respect and trust. You will always find the Audax stand at an exhibition or event with the Regiments Flag as a “rally point” for all “Once a Rifleman always a Rifleman”. Even the company name comes from part of a regimental motto – Celer et Audax (Swift and Bold).

Minister for Defence People Leo Docherty said: “Regardless of size, location or sector, employing members of the Armed Forces community is good for businesses. These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across the UK and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.”

To win an award from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must show that they provide 10 extra paid days leave for reservists and have supportive HR policies in place for veterans, reserves, Cadet Force adult volunteers and spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces. They must also advocate the benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces community, by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.

A total of 156 organisations have been recognised this year, the ninth year of the awards scheme.

Of the winners, 44% are either micro-organisations or small and medium sized enterprises, while 33% are public organisations. This demonstrates both the growth in numbers and the depth of supportive employers.

Councils, charities, blue light services, retail and insurance companies are among those that have been recognised.

Minister for Defence People Leo Docherty said:

Regardless of size, location or sector, employing members of the Armed Forces community is good for businesses.

These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across the UK and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.

The Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards continues to grow in strength each year, with a current total of 643 holders. Organisations must reapply after five years in order to retain their Gold Award status.

Among those recognised include Morgan Stanley, IBM, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Admiral Group and Groundwork.

Head of People at Admiral Group Rhian Langham said:

We’re thrilled to be recognised with the prestigious Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award. Inclusivity is a key part of our culture at Admiral, and we’re proud to create an environment where everyone feels supported.

Audax® Body Worn video cameras (BWV) have been used by the Emergency Services, Security Professionals and Parking Civil Enforcement staff across the Globe since, our industry pioneering days, in 2005.We led the World in 2006 with the UK Home Office producing the first ever BWV standards and Audax® were also the First UK Security SME ever funded by the European Union H2020 Instrument.

We are approved Members of Made in Britain, the register of British Manufacturers and accredited to the Good Business Charter which incorporates being a Living Wage Employer. Members too of BAPCO the leading UK Association for all professionals using or developing Public Safety technology and all staff members are members of The Guild of Security Industry Professionals.

Headquartered in Plymouth, and with satellite offices in both Canterbury and Brussels, Belgium; the Audax® team is predominantly composed of service veterans and are proud to have been awarded the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award of the Armed Forces Covenant.

We design and develop our products and we perform all final assembly, testing and quality control functions for our products in our Plymouth facility.

We believe our body worn video solutions demonstrate industry innovation because we’re different.

Parking innovations often revolve around revenue gathering and automation. At Audax, we believe that the people who work in the industry, such as revenue enforcement officers, are the most vital industry asset and they, being at the “coal face” are the ones most at risk. It is people that matter and it is people that need protection.

Audax® cameras have been designed and built with our customers’ needs at their heart. Being highly visible and overt is key in aiding members of the public recognise it as a camera and thus potentially deterring any attacks, but also ensuring it better meets legislation. The cameras also have an SOS button to summon assistance if needed from the control room, where with the cameras inbuilt Wi-Fi / 4G and GPS tracking, live video and audio can be streamed and operatives in the control room can view, locate and assist their colleagues on the annual licence free CMS software. This feature not only provides managers oversight and situational awareness of their assets ‘on the ground’, but it ensures complete oversight for compliance and professional standards; making this a valuable tool in insuring professionalism.

Data security is paramount and being an all-in-one device with no tethering to insecure mobile phones, security is further enhanced by providing the ability to remotely ‘stun’ a lost camera device. The camera can be sent a command by the control room that can “wipe” the memory even though all our cameras are encrypted with AES 256 Encryption technology making them suitable to meet the BS 8593: 2017 and aid in organisations compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In recent years we have improved button size and battery life. The docking stations have contact point charging and data download capabilities which remove the need to ‘fiddle’ with USB cables. There is also QR code automated officer to camera assignment on the docking station which removes the labour-intensive pre-shift camera set up and end-shift camera evidence download.

All of these features make BWV from Audax® the most technically advanced, user friendly, Body Worn Video cameras in the world and culminates years of our investment and experience in aiding and protecting our partners.

On February 17th 2022, Audax Body Worn cameras were featured on France’s popular TF1 at Lunchtime. The piece showed how they are being used by the Police Municipale of LE BARCARÈS,  which is in the Sud de la France.

ttps://www.tf1.fr/tf1/jt-13h/videos/cameras-pietons-les-polices-municipales-sequipent-31820831.html

Take a look below at a rough translation of the report…

  • The cameras are clearly visible to the members of the public.
  • After giving a warning, they are easy to turn on with a press of the front button.
  • In summer our population goes form 6,000 to 100,000 and with all of the tourists the “problems” increase.
  • The camera is very reassuring for us the police and supports us to evidence our professionalism.
  • It allows us to show our actions are easily justifiable.
  • The cameras are fully supported by the inhabitants.
