Leading the way in mobile, digital evidence gathering technology, Audax® are delighted to announce the launch of the Introduction to Body Worn Video (BWV) Cameras CPD Training, aimed at working security professionals.

Traditionally worn by the Emergency Services, local authority employees, and civil enforcement officers, body worn video is becoming increasingly popular as evidence-gathering technology on the security frontline across the globe. This innovative technology is paving the way for both security and personal safety applications, with private companies now issuing BWV to frontline staff, covering them in the case of abuse.

As sponsors of The Professional Security Officer Magazine ( TPSO), we have also been working with our friends and colleagues at THE GUILD OF SECURITY INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS (GSIP) over the past year to produce this educational course.

Audax believe that improving the knowledge and standards of BWV use is crucial when it comes to ensuring that the end-user is getting the most out of these ground-breaking products. As worldwide leaders in developing BWV technologies, Audax ® ’s team of experts have provided their wealth and depth of experience in the creation of this high quality training for no charge, to aid the peer support ethos of GSIP. It has been created to ensure security professionals are properly utilising their devices and improve user confidence with an understanding of the rules of use.

This initially FREE online CPD training is made up of 10 hours of study, in which the participant must pass 35 of the 40 questions in order to obtain the pass certificate.

It is designed to introduce security professionals to Audax® BWV, demonstrating important considerations, practical use, professional standards and Data Protection Acts. On top of these key topics, the extensive table of contents also includes:

  • The difference between BWV and CCTV
  • Overt vs Covert!
  • Resources and background information on BWV projects and initiatives
  • Made in the UK – An introduction to Audax® BWV
  • Understanding BWV concept and technology
  • Evidential continuity
  • The advantages of Digital Evident Management system (DEMS)
  • Unique with Bio-AX® and Audax® cameras

And much more.

After completing the Audax’s Introduction to Body Worn Video Cameras CPD Training, the participants will be more competent and confident with BWV cameras including Bio-AX® and other Audax® cameras, greatly improving camera utilisation and effectiveness.

As one of 156 organisations this year to have been recognised by the UK government for their outstanding support towards the armed forces community, Audax are proud to be among the few who have received the honour of the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award 2022.

Representing the highest badge of honour, the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award identifies businesses that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families. Until this year’s cohort, only 30 micro companies had ever achieved this accolade.

Speaking of the award, Owner and Managing Director, Adam Liardet commented: “I am thrilled we have received this honour and it means a great deal to Audax and to me personally. We at Audax pride ourselves on having a team composed of 50% service veterans, including myself. This is a cornerstone to our business culture and Audax are proud to support veterans and the armed forces community both within business and the wider community.”

Audax recognises the contribution that the members of the Armed Forces make to the nation through their service and has signed the Armed Forces Covenant to pledge Audax’s support of the Armed Forces Community. As part of the pledge, Audax supports: the employment of veterans; employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces (including the establishment of Reservist HR procedures); and local cadet units, either in local community or local schools, where possible.

For example, Mike Pitt, an Audax Company Director and Veteran Submariner, is a volunteer guide for HMS Courageous. The Courageous Volunteer Guides (CVGs), a group of former Royal Navy personnel, provide visitors with an in-depth tour of Courageous and the Submarine Service. As the name suggests, they are all volunteers and receive absolutely no payment for the work they do.

Audax believe we all have a role to play in ensuring that the Armed Forces community is not disadvantaged by service, and by employing veterans the company gains hugely from their direct experience of the operational environment, and their personal appreciation of customer needs and aspirations. When people leave the armed forces, they do so with unique skills and experiences that directly benefit business. Their potential contribution should never be underestimated and thus are Audax’s preferred first choice in any recruitment that Audax undertakes.

A large number of customers around the globe have also served in their respective countries armed forces so the Audax team share a “bond” with all. It is this “bond” of experience that provides an instant mutual respect and trust. You will always find the Audax stand at an exhibition or event with the Regiments Flag as a “rally point” for all “Once a Rifleman always a Rifleman”. Even the company name comes from part of a regimental motto – Celer et Audax (Swift and Bold).

Minister for Defence People Leo Docherty said: “Regardless of size, location or sector, employing members of the Armed Forces community is good for businesses. These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across the UK and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.”

To win an award from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must show that they provide 10 extra paid days leave for reservists and have supportive HR policies in place for veterans, reserves, Cadet Force adult volunteers and spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces. They must also advocate the benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces community, by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.

More than 150 organisations have been recognised by the UK Government for their outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

Representing the highest badge of honour, the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards identifies businesses that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families.

A total of 156 organisations have been recognised this year, the ninth year of the awards scheme.

Of the winners, 44% are either micro-organisations or small and medium sized enterprises, while 33% are public organisations. This demonstrates both the growth in numbers and the depth of supportive employers.

Councils, charities, blue light services, retail and insurance companies are among those that have been recognised.

Minister for Defence People Leo Docherty said:

Regardless of size, location or sector, employing members of the Armed Forces community is good for businesses.

These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across the UK and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.

The Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards continues to grow in strength each year, with a current total of 643 holders. Organisations must reapply after five years in order to retain their Gold Award status.

Among those recognised include Morgan Stanley, IBM, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Admiral Group and Groundwork.

Head of People at Admiral Group Rhian Langham said:

We’re thrilled to be recognised with the prestigious Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award. Inclusivity is a key part of our culture at Admiral, and we’re proud to create an environment where everyone feels supported.

Our colleagues with Armed Forces connections have such a positive impact on our business, particularly through their impressive resilience and adaptability, and we’re committed to continue giving them the support they need.

Executive Director at Groundwork Greater Manchester Mike Ormond said:

Groundwork Greater Manchester are extremely proud and delighted to receive an Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence. Our work with the Armed Forces Community, especially supporting veterans to gain new skills and employment, has become a cornerstone of the trust’s activity and this award is a reflection of the amazing outcomes and advocacy services our Veteran’s Employment Team deliver.

We are also fully committed as an organisation to supporting the Armed Forces veterans and reservists who are employed at Groundwork as we recognise the breadth of transferable skills, knowledge and experience they bring to the company as well as the service they have given to our country.

Audax® Body Worn video cameras (BWV) have been used by the Emergency Services, Security Professionals and Parking Civil Enforcement staff across the Globe since, our industry pioneering days, in 2005.We led the World in 2006 with the UK Home Office producing the first ever BWV standards and Audax® were also the First UK Security SME ever funded by the European Union H2020 Instrument.

We are approved Members of Made in Britain, the register of British Manufacturers and accredited to the Good Business Charter which incorporates being a Living Wage Employer. Members too of BAPCO the leading UK Association for all professionals using or developing Public Safety technology and all staff members are members of The Guild of Security Industry Professionals.

Headquartered in Plymouth, and with satellite offices in both Canterbury and Brussels, Belgium; the Audax® team is predominantly composed of service veterans and are proud to have been awarded the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award of the Armed Forces Covenant.

We design and develop our products and we perform all final assembly, testing and quality control functions for our products in our Plymouth facility.

We believe our body worn video solutions demonstrate industry innovation because we’re different.

Parking innovations often revolve around revenue gathering and automation. At Audax, we believe that the people who work in the industry, such as revenue enforcement officers, are the most vital industry asset and they, being at the “coal face” are the ones most at risk. It is people that matter and it is people that need protection.

Audax® cameras have been designed and built with our customers’ needs at their heart. Being highly visible and overt is key in aiding members of the public recognise it as a camera and thus potentially deterring any attacks, but also ensuring it better meets legislation. The cameras also have an SOS button to summon assistance if needed from the control room, where with the cameras inbuilt Wi-Fi / 4G and GPS tracking, live video and audio can be streamed and operatives in the control room can view, locate and assist their colleagues on the annual licence free CMS software. This feature not only provides managers oversight and situational awareness of their assets ‘on the ground’, but it ensures complete oversight for compliance and professional standards; making this a valuable tool in insuring professionalism.

Data security is paramount and being an all-in-one device with no tethering to insecure mobile phones, security is further enhanced by providing the ability to remotely ‘stun’ a lost camera device. The camera can be sent a command by the control room that can “wipe” the memory even though all our cameras are encrypted with AES 256 Encryption technology making them suitable to meet the BS 8593: 2017 and aid in organisations compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In recent years we have improved button size and battery life. The docking stations have contact point charging and data download capabilities which remove the need to ‘fiddle’ with USB cables. There is also QR code automated officer to camera assignment on the docking station which removes the labour-intensive pre-shift camera set up and end-shift camera evidence download.

All of these features make BWV from Audax® the most technically advanced, user friendly, Body Worn Video cameras in the world and culminates years of our investment and experience in aiding and protecting our partners.

ttps://www.tf1.fr/tf1/jt-13h/videos/cameras-pietons-les-polices-municipales-sequipent-31820831.html

Take a look below at a rough translation of the report…

  • The cameras are clearly visible to the members of the public.
  • After giving a warning, they are easy to turn on with a press of the front button.
  • In summer our population goes form 6,000 to 100,000 and with all of the tourists the “problems” increase.
  • The camera is very reassuring for us the police and supports us to evidence our professionalism.
  • It allows us to show our actions are easily justifiable.
  • The cameras are fully supported by the inhabitants.
  • 1st interview -They provide reassurance.
  • 2nd Interview – They should have been actioned a long time ago. Allows us to see things differently and decrease petty crime.
  • The cameras cover a full shift of 8 hours and on return to the Police station the videos are immediately downloaded onto the server via the docking station.
  • The docking Station is for downloading the video and for recharging the batteries.
  • The Police officers do not touch or see the videos everything is automatic and very transparent.
  • The Police Officers have no access to the images. They can’t see them and thus can’t alter them.
  • Videos are kept for 6 months and can be used in court if required.

Pioneers in Body Worn Video technology manufacturing, Audax® are pleased to announce their continued support of the Ambulanciersunie, an independent union that serves and supports paramedics working in Belgium.

Ambulanciersunie work to protect the interests of paramedics that work in Belgium. The Union is run by a board of paramedics from various medical disciplines. They know first-hand the issues facing these workers, and the pressures they are put under, and as such, are appropriately placed to represent the network.

The union work to campaign for a better future and tangible improvements for all their members including paramedics, 112 service staff and non-emergency patient transport workers.

They have devised four key objectives to deliver on their goals, to protect the rights and interests of paramedics, to provide more financial resources for the ambulance service, to provide high-quality training and better working conditions.

Audax and the Ambulanciersunie have been working closely together since 2019 to provide bodycams for private and organisational use in French, Dutch and German speaking countries.

The pioneering bodycam technology provides a vital tool for capturing footage from the frontline, at the exact moment of an incident, as well as being an effective deterrent for violence.

Manging Director of Audax, Adam Liardet stated, “Audax renewed sponsorship will enable Ambulanciersunie to continue their hard work to aid and improve the professional lives of healthcare workers. We firmly believe that violence and abuse against ambulance service workforce is inexcusable. These people work tirelessly every day to protect us, and they deserve nothing less than our total support and protection.  Audax cameras will go a long way to helping colleagues feel safer, deter misconduct, and provide evidence in the instance of an attack.”

In 2020, it came to light that 60% of mild cases of aggression and 40% of serious cases of aggression against aid workers were dismissed in court, which the Ambulanciersunie and Audax are fighting against as this figure is much too high.

Adam continued, “Attacks on ambulance personnel and paramedics are unfortunately a frequent, but underreported fact. Health facilities such as ambulances have been burned and burgled over the decades, while personnel and patients have been assaulted, injured, intimidated, and threatened. This is not right. It is why we are keen to help those who help us in the UK, Belgium and elsewhere. We have repeatedly proven our body worn cameras mitigate certain risks, however having a product that provides indisputable evidence to support a prosecution is vital.”

The ability to wear a body worn camera allows independent footage of a situation to be captured and footage replayed for a highly accurate and insightful account of any event in question. Medics will have the ability to wear their cameras and start recording if members of the public or patients become aggressive, with the captured film made available to the police if required.

Award-winning body worn video specialists Audax® are delighted to announce the renewal of their Made in Britain membership yet again. The scheme brings together the British manufacturing community and allows the use of the exclusive trademark on products, proving an ongoing commitment to excellence.

Leading manufacturers of Body Worn Video (BWV) technology, Audax® are proud to confirm their ongoing commitment to product quality, value for money and efficient business processes through their renewed membership to Made in Britain.

Made in Britain is an organisation that recognises British businesses that are committed to the highest standards of British manufacturing, whilst also celebrating British manufacturing heritage.

Audax has a longstanding history of supporting business growth in the UK and are also accredited to the Good Business Charter. The company’s headquarters are in Plymouth, Devon where the design, development, and all final assembly, testing and quality control functions are undertaken. In the past 18 months, Audax has experienced impressive growth at the site, recruiting new members of staff, and doubling their office space.

Members of Made in Britain are awarded the ability to use a protected mark on their products and literature. To earn it, they must adhere to a stringent code of conduct, and meet rigorous quality-control checks to prove their products are worthy of carrying the moniker. Products displaying the mark are proven to be made to the highest quality, represent value for money and are safe for anyone that uses or consumes them.  Overall, it displays the company’s commitment to adhering to the highest organisational standards.

Adam Liardet, Managing Director & Founder of Audax® comments, “Our Made in Britain membership is further enhanced as we have recently radically altered our product range with the introduction of new docking stations for our cameras. We have ‘re-shored’ back to the UK and all sub-assembly manufacturing for these items now takes place in the UK, using tools and moulds owned by us. Parts assembly and unit build is then done by us at our site in Plymouth. A docking station makes up over 60% of our hardware solution and the overall product solution can’t operate or perform without these elements.”

Consumers are actively encouraged to use Made in Britain members for their procurement of high-standard, British-made goods. Displaying the Made in Britain collective mark adds value to a brand by guaranteeing the product has been manufactured to the very highest standards.

More than this however, the scheme intends to emphasise the quality and variety of products on offer from British manufacturers, something Audax are very proud to be. It also ensures the rest of the world are aware of the thriving manufacturing industry Britain has to offer.

Adam further comments, “a recent article by the BBC1 stated that the short-term cost of sending freight from Asia to Europe has risen by 366% in the past year. A container that might have cost about $4,000 to send from Asia to Europe now costs about $20,000*. It makes sense for the environment, quality and cost to manufacture and buy local in the UK”.

As world leaders in the BWV market for many years, Audax are a well-established British manufacturer and are honoured to display the coveted Made in Britain mark on their products.
